The first occurred around 7 p.m. on Tuesday in Haverford Township, a SEPTA spokesperson said. An SUV crashed into several vehicles on West Chester Pike before coming to rest on its front end, pinned between a tractor-trailer and a SEPTA bus, officials said.
Photos from the scene show rescue workers from Manoa Fire Company and Upper Darby Fire Department working to extract the SUV driver.
Firefighters removed a door from the SUV and were able to free the driver in just over 20 minutes, UDFD said.
SEPTA said the bus driver was taken to the hospital with "minor" injuries.
"Safety is our top priority, and our preliminary investigation shows that the SEPTA bus operator followed all proper procedures," a spokesperson told Daily Voice. "SEPTA will continue to fully cooperate with the ongoing police investigation."
The second crash involved two SEPTA buses and played out Wednesday morning, transit authorities said.
A Route G bus "made contact" with a stopped bus near the corner of 15th Street and Oregon Avenue in South Philadelphia, according to SEPTA.
Six "minor" injuries were reported, three people from each bus, and the matter remains under investigation, they added.
Photos from the scene Tweeted by Fox29's Steve Keeley appeared to show minimal damage to either vehicle.
The accidents are the most recent in a string of SEPTA-related crashes in and around Philadelphia this summer.
On Monday, Aug. 7, a SEPTA employee was charged with DUI after allegedly crashing into a trolley while off the clock, injuring four.
On Thursday, July 27, three people were injured when an out-of-service SEPTA trolley derailed and crashed into a historic Southwest Philadelphia home, hurting three.
On Tuesday, July 25, a bus driver was treated for injuries after colliding with a wall in Center City.
On Friday, July 21, 14 people were injured when a SEPTA bus rear-ended another on Roosevelt Boulevard in the Northeast.
